Competitors were at the top of their game on Sunday, March 4, as they vied for the top four spots in each RODEOHOUSTON event. After a thrilling Super Series II, 32 cowboys and cowgirls advanced to the Semifinals set for March 14 and 15, 2018.
TIE-DOWN ROPING
Randall Carlisle’s focus and discipline placed him in the winner’s circle for Tie-Down Roping during Super Series II.

BAREBACK RIDING
David Peebles won the Super Series II Bareback Riding Championship title with three solid rides in the Series.

TEAM ROPING
Lane Ivy and Buddy Hawkins won the Team Roping at Super Series II after two years of working as partners in the event. “Ever since I was a kid, this is what I wanted to do,” Ivy said. “When you do it, it just makes you want to do it more.”

SADDLE BRONC RIDING
Cody Wright, the oldest of his family competing at RODEOHOUSTON, won Saddle Bronc Riding in Super Series II. He said RODEOHOUSTON is such an awesome place to succeed, and he still learns from his family as they’re competing alongside him.
“They help me just as much as I help them,” Wright said. “I still learn something every day and it’s nice to have an honest opinion I respect.”

STEER WRESTLING
Chance Howard won Steer Wrestling at Super Series II with a time of 4.1 in round three, solidifying his spot in the Steer Wrestling Semifinals. Howard is competing at RODEOHOUSTON this year for the second time, and he credits his performance to his nine years of experience.
“You just have to learn to handle the pressure,” Howard said.

BARREL RACING
Hailey Kinsel will advance to the Semifinals after winning Barrel Racing during Super Series II. Advancing to Semifinal Round:

BULL RIDING
Neal Holmes won Bull Riding at Super Series II and will be advancing to the Semifinals. He says he has plans to retire, which is bittersweet, but he focuses on the fact that he will still be involved in the sport by working with youth.
“It feels good right now to keep going and know that I am able to [continue to ride],” Holmes said. “I’m looking forward to staying involved and being a part of the future.”

The top four from each event, from each Super Series will advance to a Semifinal Round. The top four from each event in the Semifinal rounds will advance to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship, Saturday, March 17. The remaining six from each event in the two semifinals will compete in the Wild Card Round, Friday, March 16, where the top two from each event will advance to the Championship. Each event champion will walk away with a $50,000 payout, in addition to previous winnings. The RODEOHOUSTON Super Series continues through March 17, with the RODEOHOUSTON Super Shootout: North America’s Champions® presented by Crown Royal, on Sunday, March 18.
