The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ may be best known for our 20-day event each March but its mission to support agriculture, education and Texas youth now continues year-round.

In Episode 8 of “Mission Rodeo,” President and CEO Chris Boleman and Chairman of the Board Wesley Sinor explore how The Farm could expand that impact 365 days a year, creating new opportunities for students, families, exhibitors and the community.

With a dedicated year-round facility along Highway 288, The Farm will give the Rodeo greater flexibility to host educational programs, competitions, community events and partnerships while creating a central destination for agricultural learning.

“The vision is we can make it what we want it to be, and I think that’s what is so cool about it. I really think this is our chance to be super creative about how we share our mission. The canvas is blank for us to design what we want,” Boleman said.

From horse shows and livestock clinics to workforce development and hands-on educational experiences, the possibilities extend well beyond the annual event.

“We will be able to program horse shows year-round such as junior horse shows, high school horse shows and even at the collegiate level…things that we just can’t host now. On the complete opposite end, vocational competitions, welding competitions, our trailer build-off. A lot of these competitions happen around Southeast Texas, but now we can host all those here,” Sinor said.

For the Rodeo, The Farm is about more than adding space. It is an opportunity to expand the Rodeo’s reach, strengthen connections to agriculture and create a place that can evolve with the needs of future generations.

New episodes will be released each Wednesday through the 2027 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
