The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s commitment to education and Texas youth will be recognized on a national level during the upcoming Scholarship America National Dreams to Success Awards celebration dinner on May 24, 2017, in Washington, D.C.

The Dreams to Success Award honors individuals, companies and organizations who continue to go above and beyond to provide students with a bright educational future.

“The award is a tribute to the more than 33,000 volunteers and the staff members who dedicate time and talent to supporting students through education,” said Jack Lyons, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo chairman of the board. “For 2017 alone, the Show has committed more than $26 million to the youth of Texas, which includes more than $14 million in scholarships.”

The Show will join an elite group of past award recipients, including The Osage Nation, The Travelers Companies, Inc., the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Katie Couric and General Motors.

“The length of time and the amount of support that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has provided is among the best that we’ve seen, and we’ve been doing this for almost 60 years,” said Robert C. “Bob” Ballard, Scholarship America president and CEO. “We’ve seen a number of programs, and it ranks among the very best.”

Since 1958, Scholarship America has helped students fulfill their college dreams through scholarships and other educational support to make postsecondary success possible for all.
