Each year the Sheep and Goat committee hosts a Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest, where well-known Houston celebrities compete against each other to see who can collect the most goat milk in one minute.
The dairy goats used in the contest are provided through a partnership with Prairie View A&M University and their livestock show team.
Trinity Wilson, a freshman at Prairie View A&M University, is a part of the livestock show team. Wilson and her livestock show team are responsible for feeding, milking and practicing with the goats seven days a week. “This event gives us a chance to show our goats to the public,” Wilson said.
Nicole Sergent, an eight-year sheep and goat committee member, looks forward to the Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest every year. “This event is a cool way for people to see ag in action”, Sergent said. “They will watch because their favorite radio host, influencer or news anchor is participating, and we will ultimately reach a new audience.”
After 20 years of competing in the contest, Johnny “Bravo” Holloway, finally took home the 2025 Grand Champion award he had been chasing after. “The secret to getting the most milk is to have warm hands,” Holloway said.
Katelyn Maida, of 93Q Country, took home the Reserve Champion title for the 2025 Celebrity Dairy Goat Milking Contest. “This is a very proud moment,” Maida said. “I’ll be back to the number one spot next year.”
The Sheep and Goat Committee is looking forward to seeing who will claim the top spot next year.
