The Houston Livestock Show™ and Rodeo is investing $1.2 million in the continued success of 101 Rodeo Scholars who have demonstrated academic excellence while pursuing undergraduate degrees at Texas colleges and universities.
The Achievement Scholarship Program builds on the Rodeo’s initial scholarship support by recognizing current Rodeo Scholars who continue to meet the program’s academic requirements. Eligible students have completed four semesters and at least 60 credit hours, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and attend a Texas college or university. Each recipient receives an additional $4,000 scholarship for each eligible semester.
“Achievement Scholarships reflect the promise we make to Rodeo Scholars: that their hard work, persistence and commitment to education will continue to be recognized,” said Chris Boleman, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo president and CEO. “These students are building meaningful futures for themselves and their communities, and we are proud to invest in this continued chapter of their success.”
Combined with a student’s initial Rodeo Scholarship, Achievement Scholarship funding can bring the Rodeo’s total educational support to as much as $36,000 per student.
2026 Achievement Scholarship highlights:
- 18% first-generation high school graduates
- 37% first-generation college students
- 17 Texas colleges and universities
- Top colleges and universities attended: Texas A&M University, University of Texas, and Texas Tech University
- 54 fields of study represented
- Most common majors: animal science, biology and nursing
The Achievement Scholarship Program is part of the Rodeo’s year-round commitment to Texas youth and education. In 2026, the Rodeo committed more than $30 million to scholarships, junior show exhibitors, educational program grants and graduate assistantships as part of its total $660 million commitment since 1932.
