Drone Show, presented by ExxonMobil

The drone light show is coming back but it’s bigger and better than ever. Watch as 400 drones paint the night sky with formations that capture the essence of our Western Heritage along with a fireworks extravaganza! The dazzling display features two presentations: one will illuminate the sky on the first weekend and a different version will dazzle on the second weekend. Both shows will take center stage on the last weekend of the Rodeo.  

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind show that will light up the sky over NRG Arena every Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. 

 

 

 

SPECIAL DAYS

Tuesday, Feb. 27: Opening Day, presented by Texas Capital 

  • Special giveaways will include custom-made Leon Coffee bobbleheads for the first 10,000 paying guests, beginning at 10 a.m. 
  • The Opening Day Parade starts at noon on the grounds of NRG Park. 
  • Walking in the parade: Westbury HS, Elsik HS, Klein Forest HS Band, St. Thomas Episcopal Pipe Band Houston Mascots, Texans Cheerleaders and many others. 
  • Cirque Du Soleil will also walk in the opening day parade and have a 7-minute performance on the Junction Stage, presented by Woodside Energy. 
  • And starting at 8:30 p.m., join us for a Glow Party in the Champion Wine Garden, presented by Frost Bank. Wear your favorite glow in the dark accessories or pick up a giveaway item to glow crazy while sipping award-winning wines and enjoying some music by a DJ. 
  • The Champion Wine Garden will also have music by The Emotions on the Main Stage and DJ DU on the Lone Star Stage.  

Wednesday, February 28: Armed Forces Appreciation Day, presented by Crown Royal

  • New for this year, there will be a JROTC presentation by local high schools starting at noon at the Junction Stage. 
  • Red, white and blue glow stick giveaway – 50,000 glow sticks will be distributed for concert attendees when NRG Stadium gates open.  

Friday, March 1: Black Heritage Day, presented by Kroger 

  • Jack Yates High School Drumline performance takes place inside NRG Stadium before the 50 Cent concert (approximately 8:45 p.m.). 

Wednesday, March 6: Community Day, presented by TC Energy

  • Free admission for all guests until noon 
  • Buy one, get one rides and games in the Junction Carnival area until 4 p.m. 
  • Discounted food and beverage offerings at the Junction until 4 p.m. 
    • $3 mini corn dog at McKinney Corn Dog 
    • $3 mini popcorn at Kid Shack

  • The Houston Grand Opera will perform their Opera to Go! at 11 a.m. on the Junction Stage, presented by Woodside Energy.

  • A NASA activation will be inside NRG Center. 

Thursday, March 7: Volunteer Appreciation Day, presented by Phillips 66

  • Boots & Bubbly Brunch in the Champion Wine Garden, presented by Frost Bank from 9-11 a.m. 
  • This is for volunteers only, and they must show their badge at the entrance. 
  • Volunteer Talent Show located on the Junction Stage, presented by Woodside Energy from 2-4 p.m. 
  • A volunteer will be singing the national anthem before RODEOHOUSTON. 

Value Wednesdays

  • Feb. 28 and March 13, 2024: Admission for seniors, 60 and over, and children, 12 and under, until noon on the first and third Wednesday. (This does not include rodeo/concert admission) 
  • Wednesday, March 6, Community Day, presented by TC Energy: All guests will enjoy free admission to the park until noon.

HORSE SHOW

NCHA Cutting event changes

  • The show has been moved from an 8-day event to a 6-day event. 
  • The six days will encompass three individual shows, with all classes having only one go-round. Contestants can enter one, two or three shows. 

Ranch Rodeo

  • Ranch Rodeo will add a third day to their schedule and will host their very first youth Ranch Rodeo. 
  • This event will be by invitation only and will consist of 10 teams.  

Ranch Horse

  • The Ranch Horse show will add a third day to their schedule for the new Ranch Horse Challenge.   
  • This event will be limited to 12 horses in each of the three divisions: open, amateur and youth. 
  • Each horse will compete in five different events and can win money per event, as well as in the overall standings.   

American Rope Horse Futurity

  • A new 2-day event focused on team roping, with the potential to expand in the future.  

Junior Invitational

  • For 2024, Next Generation Jr. Events will hold five qualifiers. 
  • A team roping event will be held beginning in 2024. Fire It Up Productions held three qualifiers for this new event.  

 

 

RODEO

RODEOHOUSTON Competition Updates

PRCA Permit Finals added as a Qualifier 

  • Each PRCA event winner of the Permit Finals, Oct. 7 – 9 in Waco, Texas, will secure entry into RODEOHOUSTON in 2024. 

RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame

The Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM announced the RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame and the inaugural class of 2024. Three individuals will be inducted during the RODEOHOUSTON finals on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The 2024 inductees are Mike Cervi, Charmayne James and Bob Tallman.  

The RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame will recognize individuals and animals for their impact on the success and longevity of the Rodeo. Future honorees will include past and present Rodeo contractor personnel, contestants, stock and stock contractors. A temporary display can be seen inside NRG Stadium for fans to visit throughout the 20-day event. A permanent display is on the second floor of NRG Center and highlights all Hall of Fame inductees.

Brand New RODEOHOUSTON Website and App 

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo website and app had a major refresh, and not only does it have a much more updated look, but it has useful, consolidated information to make everyone’s experience at the Rodeo seamless. 

Please download the new RODEOHOUSTON app from your app store. It has an interactive map to help guests on the Rodeo grounds, logins for carnival, grounds and show tickets, livestreaming capabilities and of course, frequently asked questions to help you navigate your visit. The interactive map will be available on the app Feb. 22.

Momentum Refresh Mobile Restroom

New for this year, we are offering a safe and comfortable personal care space for those with mobility limitations and their caregivers. This groundbreaking facility sets a new standard by providing a range of inclusive features, including an adjustable adult-size changing table, a ceiling hoist for safe transfers, adjustable sink/grab bars, toilet with bidet and a dedicated team of trained professionals to inform guests about the amenities and clean the space between uses. We’re committed to ensuring a safe and dignified environment, eliminating barriers so everyone can fully enjoy the event. The Momentum Refresh mobile restroom can be found in the Junction restroom area. Orange Lot, between Fun on The Farm and NRG Center. 

Sign Language Interpreters

We will livestream sign language interpreter services every night of RODEOHOUSTON which includes all RODEOHOUSTON events and performances in NRG Stadium. Livestream is available through a protected link streamed straight to your smart device. FREE WI-FI

NRG Stadium

The Wi-Fi system in NRG Stadium has been upgraded.  NRG Stadium now provides a high density 6e Wi-Fi network for all guests. 

Champion Wine Garden

Wi-Fi will be available for all guests in the Champion Wine Garden.  The Wi-Fi is provided by Frost Bank.
