The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo today unveiled The Farm, which stands for Furthering our Agriculture and Ranching Mission. The Rodeo also broke ground on the landmark 1 million-square-foot agricultural complex that will support Texas youth, agriculture, education and Western heritage for generations to come. The project represents the largest single facilities investment in the organization’s history and one of the most significant private investments in agriculture and education in Texas.
Located on approximately 350 acres along Highway 288, the new complex will expand opportunities for livestock and Horse Show activities, agricultural education, youth programming, volunteer engagement and community events throughout the year. Designed to serve as a premier equestrian destination, the facility will bring together competitors, exhibitors and spectators for world-class horse shows and events while advancing the Rodeo’s mission and creating new opportunities to serve Texas youth year-round.
“As we move toward our centennial, the groundbreaking of The Farm reflects our commitment to building not only a world-class facility, but a stronger future for Texas youth and agriculture,” said Wesley Sinor, chairman of the board of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “The impact of what begins today will be felt for generations.”
The facility’s name was selected through a multi-phase naming initiative that invited Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo volunteers to submit ideas reflecting the organization’s mission, values and future vision. Finalists advanced through an internal review process before being shared with the public. The program was designed to honor the volunteers who have helped build the organization while engaging the broader community in shaping its future.
The complex is designed to complement the Rodeo’s longstanding home at Reliant Park while significantly expanding the organization’s capacity to deliver mission-driven programs and events year-round. Once completed, the facility will provide a modern, flexible space that supports educational experiences, livestock and equine activities, community gatherings and future growth opportunities.
