A handful of Texas winemakers gathered in the Champion Wine Garden Thursday afternoon to share samples and science about the Texas wine industry with Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ guests.

Brennan Vineyards brought several options all the way from Comanche, including their roan blend, Buffalo Roan, and a Tempranillo.

Rodeo visitor Randi Ramsey said that she enjoyed Malbec from Bending Branch Winery. She said Bending Branch makes other wines that she likes, so getting to try a new option was exciting.

“I came for the rodeo tonight and it was a nice bonus to have this event going on,” Ramsey said. “The Texas wine industry is really expanding.”

The winery representatives said they like being able to educate the public about their wineries, and that Texas Wine Day offers a unique experience for them to tell wine drinkers the story behind the bottle.

“Texas has always been a very cavalier state, and our wine industry is no different,” explained Rebecca Conley from Brennan Vineyards. “We are proud of the great wine we make in this state, and it is becoming more popular.”
