Super Series IV wrapped up with a talented group of contestants earning their places in the Semifinals. As the competition intensifies, the road to the Championship is more challenging than ever.
National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier Summer Kosel and her barrel racing horse, “Apollo,” blazed through the pattern in 14.50 seconds to guarantee her position in the Semifinals. “I just try to be prepared mentally by making sure that I have my horse prepared, and I know where my faith is,” Koesel said. “Apollo likes the energy and the noise, and I do, too, so it’s perfect for us.”
Bull rider, Luke Mast, entered the performance without any earnings but delivered a standout ride to lock in his spot in the Semifinals and win the Super Series. “It’s pretty surreal to be able to win a round here at RODEOHOUSTON®,” Mast said. “It’s one of the biggest of my career, so it’s fun to be here.”
Saddle Bronc rider Weston Patterson delivered a strong performance tonight, securing the top spot in the Super Series. “You’re competing against seven other guys that are very well prepared,” Timberman said. “With this energy here in Houston, it’s like nothing ever. It just gets your adrenaline going and just ready to compete.”
Steer wrestler Ryan Shuckburgh, secured his spot in the Semifinals, topping tonight’s leader board with a time of 6.6 seconds. “It is a big honor to win the Super Series,” Shuckburgh said.
Team ropers Lightning Aguilera and Patrick Smith tied to win Super Series IV but Marcus Theriot and Wyatt Cox came away the Super Series champions based on the tiebreaker. Clocking in a time of 3.8 seconds, breakaway roper Jackie Crawford topped the leaderboard at this Super Series. “Never give yourself any excuses,” Crawford said. “If you want it, give it all you got.”
Tie-down roper Seth Hall, claimed victory in round three and Super Series IV with a fast 8.9-second run, securing his spot in the Semi-finals. “I kind of had an idea what kind of calf I was going to run,” Hall said. “That goes into play a lot of how our run is going to be.”
Bareback rider Weston Timberman added a pocketful of cash to his lifetime earnings after three days at RODEOHOUSTON. “One piece of advice I’d give to my younger self is if you nod your head, make sure you’re nodding with authority,” Timberman said.
