The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was recognized as 2022 ACM Fair/Rodeo of the Year at the 16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors, held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Aug. 23. This is the second time the Rodeo has received the honor.

“The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is thrilled to receive this award for the second time, cementing our status as one of the most prestigious Rodeos in the world,” said Chris Boleman, president, and CEO of the Rodeo. “This Academy of Country Music award is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, staff, partners and artists, who are deeply committed to producing a one-of-a-kind event year after year.”

The Rodeo is known for its high caliber of performers, including George Strait, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn and Brad Paisley, and non-country artists like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars, among others. The Show runs for 20 days each spring, where a new artist performs every day following the Rodeo competition.

The ACM presents the Industry Award to a fair/rodeo where artist(s) received market value compensation for their performance, selected by a professional panel of judges. Requirements include that the fair/rodeo must have a minimum of one country music artist as a headliner, occurred during the eligibility period, and be in good standing with all professional vendors and help promote country ticket sales. Nominees included the Auburn Rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days, Florida Strawberry Festival and the Iowa State Fair.

A television special of the 16th Annual ACM Honors will air as a two-hour special on FOX on Monday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
