Today, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo announced its plans for Volunteer Appreciation Day, presented by Phillips 66, with unique activations for its 35,000 volunteers on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
“Our organization is unique in the aspect that our volunteers are the backbone of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo,” said Chris Boleman, president and CEO. “This day was created as a way to say thank you to the individuals who dedicate their time and talents to our event every year.”
The Rodeo is turning the spotlight on its unsung heroes like never before with the inaugural Volunteer Appreciation Day. The party will start bright and early with the “Boots and Bubbly Brunch” – a morning celebration packed with a free breakfast, mimosas, exciting giveaways, and entertainment for Rodeo volunteers. Other events include a volunteer talent show, and a special presentation inside NRG Stadium, including a Rodeo volunteer who will sing the national anthem.
“Creating the first-ever Volunteer Appreciation Day with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo aligns perfectly with our mission of providing energy and improving lives,” said Phillips 66 Social Impact Manager Courtney Meadows. “Volunteers play a critical role in fostering a thriving society, and Phillips 66 is excited get this initiative off the ground to show gratitude to those who give back to their community.”
What started as a small group of passionate individuals with a shared vision has blossomed into an event fueled by the relentless dedication and hard work of over 35,000 volunteers. Their dedication, determination, and unwavering commitment have not only fine-tuned the Rodeo into a well-oiled machine but have also contributed to an awe-inspiring $600 million raised for the youth of Texas.
So, as we gear up for a day of festivities that honor the heartbeat of the Rodeo, we hope the community also joins us in celebrating the remarkable individuals who make the magic happen. NRG Park will be open to the public as planned. These changes will be in addition to our normal programing and events.
More information on Volunteer Day activations will be released early next year.
