In Episode 4 of “Mission Rodeo,” Chairman of the Board Wesley Sinor and Executive Committee Member Jeff Hayes discuss the volunteer-driven spirit behind the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ and how its dedicated volunteer community is already helping shape the organization’s future.
The conversation explores how volunteers have contributed their professional expertise and decades of experience to the planning process, from improving traffic flow and exhibitor logistics to helping create a world-class experience at the new campus. Sinor describes the planning process as a “volunteer-led effort” involving leaders from committees that will eventually work at the facility.
As the Rodeo expands to a second campus, volunteer opportunities are expected to grow as well. Sinor and Hayes discuss the potential for expanded committees, new leadership opportunities and additional ways volunteers can use their skills to support the Rodeo’s mission.
“This project is really dependent on volunteers to make it world-class,” Sinor said.
For Hayes, volunteering with the Rodeo is about far more than working a shift. He reflects on the friendships, leadership opportunities and sense of community that have made volunteering a way of life for generations of Rodeo families.
“I’ll guarantee it’ll be life changing. You join the Show, it’ll change your life,” Hayes said.
