With tools flying, lights flashing and smoke billowing from tractors, FFA students from across Texas worked feverishly to fix the machines during the 2021 State FFA Tractor Technician Contest.

This year, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ hosted 10 FFA teams as a part of the State FFA Contest.

Unique to the state of Texas, the Tractor Technician Contest tests students’ ability to think quickly on their feet to solve real-world mechanical scenarios.

Comprised of three parts, the contest requires teams of three to apprise tractor parts and recommend needed services, complete a written exam and resolve malfunctions that inhibit their tractor from running properly.

During the final component of the contest, teams are provided just 25 minutes to identify five problems within their tractor. Once they repair their machines, students must safely drive their tractor around the arena to complete the final portion of the contest.

The 2021 winning team was from Bellville FFA , followed by Bangs FFA in second place and Dumas FFA in third place. Congratulations to all of the state finalist and winners!
