Rodeo Uncorked! highlights wine production in agriculture. Before the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, the Rodeo hosts an International Wine Competition, a food competition and wine auction. During the Rodeo, visit the Champion Wine Garden where the champion wines from the International Wine Competition are served.

International Wine Competition

This 19th annual competition was held in honor of Charles M. “Bear” Dalton, founding member of the annual wine competition, as well as the Rodeo’s wine committees. This year’s competition featured 2,862 entries from 17 countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Israel, Peru, Argentina and South Africa. Of those entries, 480 entries were from Texas wineries, and 203 entries came from this year’s featured region, Washington State, an established wine-growing region with a reputation for excellence in wine production.

Roundup & Best Bites Competition

Roundup & Best Bites is a destination for local food and wine enthusiasts. The annual competition paired signature dishes from Houston-area culinary institutions with nearly 500 award-winning wines from the 2022 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition, including the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Nearly 100 of the area’s top restaurants competed in this year’s event.

CHAMPION WINE AUCTION & DINNER

The Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction and Dinner is an exciting way to kick off the Rodeo season. Begin your evening with an exquisite cocktail hour, including an exciting silent auction where you can bid on unique wines, unforgettable trips, and other great items. Then join us in the ballroom to enjoy a sumptuous seated dinner complemented by champion wines. Following dinner, you and your guest can join the excitement by bidding on award-winning wines to support the Rodeo. Purchased items are available immediately following the auction for you to take home.

In accordance with Rule 3.322(h)(2) of the Texas Administrative Code, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has designated Sunday, February 20, 2022 and Sunday, February 27, 2022 as its two allowed tax-free sales days for 2022. Any sale that would otherwise be subject to sales tax will be sold tax-free on these two days.
