What does it take to bring a project of this scale from just a vision to reality?
In Episode 7 of “Mission Rodeo,” Chief Strategic Officer Peter McStravick and Executive Committee Member and Building Committee Chairman Parker Johnson take listeners behind the scenes of The Farm, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s™ new agricultural complex along Highway 288 and how the organization is bringing it to life.
The conversation explores the planning, coordination and collaboration driving the historic project, including the work already underway and the major milestones ahead as The Farm moves toward its planned 2029 opening.
“It’s a collaborative effort in moving our design forward and getting where we need to go. We’re very proud to be able to do this and make a home of our own,” McStravick said.
McStravick and Johnson also discuss the steps required to move from groundbreaking to construction, from site preparation and infrastructure planning to design and project sequencing. With livestock facility construction expected to begin in November, the project is quickly moving into its next phase.
“The way we are going to phase this is first, livestock expo facility, then the equestrian facility and then our center building, which is going to be really unique and a lot of fun. All of these will be state-of-the-art facilities. We are looking forward to it,” Johnson said.
Episode 7 offers a high-level look at the expertise and collaboration helping bring The Farm to life.
New episodes will be released each Wednesday through the 2027 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
