2023 Grand Champions Selected at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™ Junior Market Poultry Show

Sorting through some of the state’s best poultry was no easy job for judges at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™ Junior Market Poultry Show.
 
Kamryn Till, 17, a junior from El Campo, Texas, exhibited the Grand Champion Market Broilers.
 
The El Campo FFA member got into showing broilers because of her sister, and after receiving Reserve Grand Champion her first year of showing in the fifth grade, Kamryn was on a mission to win Grand.
 
“There’s nothing that compares to this moment,” Kamryn said. “Hard work does pays off.”
 
El Campo FFA member Gage Wilson, 8, claimed the title of Reserve Grand Champion Market Broilers.
 
Exhibitors will sell their poultry at the Junior Market Poultry Auction, Saturday, March 11, at noon. The auction is open to the public and will be held in the NRG Arena Sales Pavilion.
 
Grand Champion Junior Market Turkey went to Tyler John, an 18-year-old from La Vernia, Texas. The La Vernia FFA member said that the key to his success this show season has been a good feeding schedule and taking care of his bird.
 
John plans to attend Del Mar College in Corpus Christi.
 
“I plan to use the money I won to pay for college and maybe buy some land in the future,” Tyler said.
 
Trent Ellebracht, 16, from La Vernia, Texas was awarded Reserve Grand Champion Market Turkey. The La Vernia FFA member said that nothing comes close to this experience.
 
“It feels pretty exciting,” Trent said. “This has been an amazing experience.”
