HISTORY WAS MADE DURING THE 2022 HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO™ JUNIOR MARKET LAMB AND GOAT SHOW CHAMPION SELECTION

As family and friends watched the 2022 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Junior Market Lamb and Goat Show Champion Selection with hopeful spirits, one name stood out amongst the rest: Hayden Schroeder.

Hayden, a senior at Early High School, took the title of Grand Champion in both the lamb and goat show.

“It’s my lifestyle,” said Schroeder. “It’s what I do when I wake up and what I do before I go to sleep.”

Two exceptional young ladies took home the reserve grand champion titles. Sunny Cowley, a Randall County 4-H member, took home the Reserve Grand Champion title in the goat show. Parker County 4-H member, Makenna Lain, took home the Reserve Grand Champion title in the lamb show.

Market Goat Judge Cody Sloan, from Cameron, Missouri, evaluated hundreds of goats during the show.

“Every goat out here is next level,” said Sloan. Additionally, Sloan noted that all of the goats competing were top tier and he had a difficult task to complete.

Jimmie Davis, the Market Lamb Judge, noted what an honor it was to judge high caliber sheep at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

“I was really impressed with the sheep show over the past two days,” said Davis.

Cheers and shouts echoed the arena at the NRG Center as the winners were announced by the judges. This will go down as an evening of champions that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will not soon forget.
