2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Junior Market Barrow Auction

Generous auction buyers showed their support for Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo barrow exhibitors at the 2021 Junior Market Barrow Auction, held today, May 21 as a private event at NRG Center.

Junior Market Barrow Grand Champion
Lynn County 4-H member Lainee Cook, 15, exhibited this year’s Grand Champion Junior Market Barrow. Lisa Blackwood, Jackie and Jon Hodges, Kathy and Matt Norris, and Stronghold Limited – Darrel Pearson purchased the Grand Champion for $210,000.

“All the scholarships really make a difference in these kids’ lives,” said Lisa Blackwood. “Getting these kids educated and giving them an opportunity to get a college degree is just going to set them on their way and set them up for success.”

Junior Market Barrow Reserve Grand Champion
Emily Muehlstein, a 15-year-old exhibitor from the Jones County 4-H Club, sold her Reserve Grand Champion Junior Market Barrow for $160,000 to Christina and Chris Box, Bridgette and John Grimes, Sheri and Rob Walker, and Mark Ward.

“She did all of the hard work, but I want to point out, it’s the ag teachers, it’s the parents, the grandparents who support our exhibitors,” said John Grimes. “And we ought to feel pretty good about the state of Texas and how resilient and committed our young people still are, and the least we can do is reward them for their success.”
