Are you thinking about coming to the Rodeo this year but not sure how to plan your day? No worries, we have provided you with a full itinerary of an ideal family outing on a Wednesday at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, including activities, meals, and entertainment.

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Travel to NRG and parking

First thing’s first: check the traffic, grab your cowboy hat, and get ready to roll! If you are driving yourself, you’ll be parking in the Yellow Lot (9051 S. Main St, Houston, TX 77054) or the 610 Lot (2100 W Bellfort Blvd, Houston TX, 77054) and it will cost $25. Hop on the convenient tram or take a stroll to the grounds—it’s your choice! We encourage guests to use catch a ride for $1.25 one way on the METRORail! With three rail lines, the METRORail makes getting to the Rodeo affordable for families. We also encourage you to explore our Park & Ride options if you live a little further away. You can park closer to your home and ride a shuttle to NRG Park. Visitors are dropped off near NRG Center and NRG Arena.

Plus, if you come on a Wednesday, kids under 12 get in FREE until noon! You’ll only need tickets for the adults in your crew under the age of 60. (Rodeo and concert are separate, though, so don’t forget to grab those too). Let’s get this adventure started!

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.: Dive into the AGVENTURE, presented by Oxy

Welcome to the fun! Your first stop is the AGVENTURE Horticulture and Bee Exhibit in Hall A of the NRG Center. It’s the perfect place for the little ones to dig into agriculture and science—literally! Watch them explore ant colonies, learn about worms, and plant their very own sunflower seeds to take home. After that, head over to the Bee Exhibit for an up-close view of live bees hard at work.

11:30 a.m. -12 p.m.: AGVENTURE, presented by Oxy Petting Zoo and Pony Rides

What’s better than being face to face with cute and cuddly animals? While you’re at AGVENTURE, presented by Oxy, stop by the Petting Zoo, where your kids can interact with everything from classic farm animals to a few exotic friends. For just $10 a person they can even saddle up and ride a pony. It’s an experience they’ll talk about for days!

12 p.m. -12:30 p.m.: AGVENTURE, presented by Oxy Birthing Center and Poultry Exhibit

Ready for a heartwarming moment? Take a trip to the AGVENTURE Birthing Center and Poultry Exhibit to witness live births and baby chicks hatching from eggs. It’s a magical, educational experience the whole family will enjoy!

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch Time

Wow, you’ve had a lot of fun so far! It’s time to refuel with a delicious meal. Explore all of our amazing vendors and find somewhere to grab a bite to eat at! Don’t forget to swing by the livestock area and catch some of the 4-H and FFA students showing off their animal projects. You might even catch a little bit of a livestock show in action.

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: The Junction: Fun on The Farm

Now it’s time to head to The Junction! Let your kids to roll up their sleeves and jump into “Fun on The Farm.” Here, they’ll explore the agricultural process from farm to market while helping out with chores like gathering eggs, planting crops, and even milking a cow! It’s all hands-on fun!

Get ready for a fun-filled race! Watch as adorable piglets sprint toward a tasty treat at the finish line. Everyone will be cheering as these speedy little pigs race around the 150-ft track. Trust me, it’s a crowd favorite!

6 p.m.: The Choice is Yours!

By now, you’re probably feeling like you’ve had a full day of excitement (and fun!). But guess what? The adventure doesn’t have to end here. You’ve got two great options:

  1. Call it a day – If you’re ready to hang your hat, you can head home and let your feet rest after an action-packed day. You’ve earned it!
  2. Keep the fun rolling – If you’re up for more and you bought Stadium tickets, grab a quick bite to eat and then head over to NRG stadium, where the Rodeo and concert action kicks off at 6:45 p.m.! The the perfect way to round out your day is with some incredible live entertainment!

No matter which way you decide to go, you’ve created memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you’re heading home to relax or staying for the Rodeo, we hope your day was filled with fun, laughter, and all the excitement the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has to offer. We can’t wait to see you next time!
