Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials proudly announce that for the 58th year, 70 Texas FFA students will each receive a $20,000 scholarship at the 97th annual Texas FFA Convention.
“Supporting Texas FFA students is written into the fabric of the Rodeo’s mission, which makes each of these scholarships truly special,” said Chris Boleman, president and CEO of the Rodeo. “We’re proud to see these students leading the future of agriculture with the passion and dedication they bring.”
At a glance:
- Scholars are from 59 Texas FFA chapters
- Scholars are majoring in 33 different majors, including Animal Science, Agricultural Communications, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Biology
Scholarship recipients were selected by Texas FFA officials based on the students’ involvement with the program, academic and FFA achievements and financial need, as well as the FFA member’s performance in an interview process. Each scholarship recipient will receive a $20,000 scholarship from the Rodeo to apply towards a four-year undergraduate degree, totaling $1.4 million.
Since its establishment in 1929, the Texas FFA Association has been a cornerstone of secondary agricultural education, where students participate in classroom learning and hands-on agricultural projects. Embedded within the school’s agricultural science curriculum, the FFA’s mission is to enhance students’ lives by nurturing leadership, personal development, and career success through agricultural education.
These 70 FFA scholarships represent a portion of the Rodeo’s annual commitment of more than $28 million to support Texas youth and statewide educational programs in 2025 and a total $630 million commitment since 1932. Additional information about the Rodeo’s educational commitment can be found here.
The 97th Annual FFA Convention is being held in Fort Worth, Texas at the Fort Worth Convention Center. To celebrate, scholars and their families will gather to honor their hard-earned scholarship and success in FFA on July 2, 2025.
