Houston is more than a city — it’s a community defined by resilience, generosity and people who continuously show up for one another. Every July 13, “713 Day” celebrates exactly what makes Houston so special: pride in our city, our culture and the people who make it all possible.

For nearly a century, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has reflected the heart of Houston. What began as a livestock show has grown into one of the world’s largest celebrations of community, Western heritage, entertainment and education — all because this city continues to rally behind it year after year.

The Rodeo is successful because Houston believes in it.

It is the family purchasing tickets every spring to continue a tradition passed down for generations. It is the volunteer arriving before sunrise and staying long after the crowds leave because they care deeply about the mission. It is the student whose life is changed through a scholarship. It is the small moments, memories and connections made across 20 days that remind people what community truly feels like.

More than 36,000 volunteers donate their time, energy and passion to help make the Rodeo possible each year. Their commitment represents the very best of Houston — hardworking people from every industry, neighborhood and background coming together for something larger than themselves.

And every ticket purchased is about far more than attending a concert or Rodeo performance. It directly supports the organization’s mission of championing education, supporting agriculture, preserving Western heritage and investing in the future of Texas youth. The Rodeo’s impact reaches far beyond Reliant Park and extends into classrooms, communities and careers across the state.

That is the spirit of 713 Day.

It is about celebrating the people who continue to show up for Houston and for each other. It is about recognizing that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is not simply an event — it reflects the city itself: diverse, passionate, welcoming and proud.

Houston Has Lived the Rodeo, Now, It’s Your Turn to Define It

As the Rodeo approaches its 95th Anniversary, we’re marking this milestone the only way that feels right: by turning the microphone over to the community that built us.

Starting on 713 Day, we’re inviting Houston to help us curate a list of the 95 Top Rodeo Memories — the moments, milestones, magic and memory-makers that have defined nearly a century of Rodeo history through your eyes.

Was it your first concert under the Stadium lights? The year your child took home a scholarship? A cold cup of lemonade on a hot night? A trail ride sunrise? A volunteer shift that changed your life? A carnival ride you still talk about? A calf scramble win? A family tradition you’ve carried for generations?

We want to hear it — all of it.

Share a Memory. Win 2027 Season Tickets.

Every Houstonian who submits their favorite Rodeo memory will be entered for a chance to win a pair of 2027 RODEOHOUSTON Season Tickets, your up-close seat to help write the next chapter of Rodeo history.

Powered by Houston. Defined by Houston.

As Houston celebrates 713 Day, the Rodeo celebrates the community that has made its success possible for generations. Because at its core, this organization is powered by Houston — by the volunteers, fans, sponsors, exhibitors, students and supporters who continue to believe in its mission and help carry it forward year after year.

So, on 713 Day, we’re not just celebrating a city.

We’re celebrating you and asking you to help us tell the next 95 years of the story.
