Experience a Salute to Western Heritage before the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ officially begins.

WHAT: With the 2023 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ approaching, 10 trail rides with more than 2,000 riders will saddle up and head out across the great state of Texas beginning Sunday, Feb. 19. Traveling more than 1,000 miles combined on horseback and by wagon, these trail rides help kick off rodeo season in Houston, as they make the trek to Memorial Park for an awards ceremony on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
Each trail ride has an individual travel route throughout the week with stops and overnight stays. Media are invited to catch up with trail riders as they make their way to town to celebrate Houston’s longstanding love of Western heritage.

WHEN: Sunday, Feb. 19 – Friday, Feb. 24, 2023
Schedules vary based on individual rides route. For more information about the trail rides, including schedules and maps, visit here.

WHY: In 1952, four men traveled on horseback from Brenham, Texas, to raise awareness of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Today, more than 2,000 trail riders participate in the Rodeo’s signature annual tradition. Riders hit the trail to recreate the Old West, and in doing so, find a common ground that links all Texans near and far to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™.
