Denim- and sparkle-clad models strutted down the catwalk as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ hosted its sixth annual Rocking the Rodeo Runway Fashion Show and Exhibitor Showcase, Thursday, March 16.

Hosted by the Commercial Exhibits Committee, the fashion show allows vendors the opportunity to showcase their unique styles and products.

Commercial Exhibits Committee member Randy Young said this event makes the Show even more special for visitors.

“People get excited about the products, [then] go to booths and buy items,” Young said. “The fashion show adds some flare to the rodeo, besides the fair and animals.”

With 341 booths at the Show this year, it can be difficult for vendors to make themselves known to attendees. But, due in part to the fashion show, vendors are becoming more known and sought-after. Even better for the vendors, the fashion show is increasing in popularity.

“I was surprised by the high-interest level,” Young said. “People were not just coming here to find a place to sit. They were coming here specifically for the fashion show.”

Kassandra Cias, a fashion show model and RODEOHOUSTON® scholarship recipient, said she was excited to learn about the Show this year. Cias volunteered for the fashion show and was matched up with Shannie Girl. She said this event is an excellent opportunity for all the commercial exhibitors.

“It’s good to have this for the vendors, and it’s good that a lot of these clothes are affordable,” Cias said.

Affordable, trendy and Western-style clothing are all the rage for rodeos. Rocking the Rodeo Runway Fashion Show and Exhibitor Showcase provided the perfect place for commercial exhibitors and attendees to pair up, and will likely continue growing in popularity in the future.
