The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ promotes agriculture by providing a family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage, and delivers year-round educational support within the community.
Community
More than 36,000 individuals serving on 109 different committees form the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ volunteer corps and are responsible for helping maintain its charitable purpose year after year.
Commitment
With more than 2.1 million total hours of service amongst them, Rodeo volunteers know their dedication to this organization goes beyond a time commitment — it’s a way of life.
Impact
Since 1932, the Rodeo has made a $660 million impact on the youth of Texas, a feat that could not have been done without the passion of its volunteer network.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo would not be the successful organization it is today without the vision, dedication and hard work of its volunteers. What began as a small group of people with a dream has developed into nearly a month-long event supported by the efforts of more than 36,000 people.

Acceptance to a committee is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. Must be 21 years of age or older (except for the Junior Rodeo Committee).
Ages 17-20
Junior Rodeo Committee
The Jr. Rodeo Committee allows members ages 17-20 an opportunity to serve the community and be an important part of the Show’s mission. Members serve on existing committees through work assignments gathered, managed and coordinated by JRC and mentored by current Show volunteers and adult members of JRC.
Recruitment for this committee takes place mid-summer, based on availability. Interested members must be at least 17 and no older than 21 by January 31st.

Meet Wesley Sinor
Wesley Sinor, a Texas native with an extensive background in the equine, manufacturing, philanthropy and Western heritage industries, brings steady and strategic leadership to his role as chairman-elect of the board for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Respected for his calm confidence and thoughtful decision-making, Sinor leads with a forward-thinking, collaborative and purpose-driven approach as he helps guide the organization into its next chapter. He was elected chairman–elect of the board in 2025 and will serve a three-year term through the 2029 Rodeo.

Wesley Sinor, a Texas native with an extensive background in the equine, manufacturing, philanthropy and Western heritage industries, brings steady and strategic leadership to his role as chairman-elect of the board for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Sinor has been deeply involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo since 2003, initially joining as a member of the Gatekeepers Committee. Over his 22 years as a volunteer, he has served on several committees, including Feed Store, Houston General Go Texan, Livestock, Rodeo Operations, Armed Forces Appreciation, Grand Entry and Quarter Horse. Before being elected to the Executive Committee in the spring of 2017, Sinor served as a Rodeo vice president from 2014 to 2016 and was elected to the board of directors in 2009. Since joining the Executive Committee, he has remained active on several standing committees, most notably serving as chairman of the audit and budget committees.
In his professional career, Sinor was a third-generation leader in the industrial equipment manufacturing industry. He was part of building and scaling Sinor Engine Company, a global leader that commands 85 percent of the market share in natural gas engine manufacturing and repair.
Sinor is passionate about the ranching and equine industries and is actively involved in several associated organizations. He is a lifetime member of the American Cutting Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Houston Polo Club, National Cutting Horse Association, United States Polo Association, Tejas Vaqueros, Ranchero Visitadores and more. That passion extends into his personal life as well — he is an avid horseman and remains involved in operations at his family’s Sinor Ranch and W Bar S Horse Farm.
Sinor is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and Rice University, where he received an MBA. He was born in Pasadena, Texas, and met his wife, Cassie, who is also a volunteer, through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Sinor succeeds Pat Mann Phillips as chairman of the board and will spend the year as chairman-elect, shadowing Phillips as she finishes her final term through the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Committee Showcase Event
The Committee Showcase is a recruiting event that happens 2-3 times out of the year for individuals to learn about the Rodeo’s different committees, speak with current volunteers and gain a better understanding of each committee’s responsibilities, expectations and membership requirements before applying to join.
