Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Junior Breeding Beef Heifer Supreme Champion Selection

Exhibitors credited their families for their success at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Junior Breeding Beef Heifer Champion Selection in NRG Center Main Arena Saturday, March 9. Abby Geye, 18, received the iconic Overall Supreme Champion Heifer Bowlegged “H” trophy for exhibiting her Angus heifer. The Rising Star FFA member was filled with happy tears to end her show career with a win. Abby thanked her family in an emotional embrace.

“We all have to start somewhere,” Abby said. “The first year I came here I had an Angus heifer that I placed eighth with and my dad just told me, ‘Don’t give up, your day is coming,’ and he was right.”

Caeden Scherer, 16, a Brenham FFA member, exhibited his Beefmaster heifer and won Reserve Overall Supreme Champion Heifer. Caeden was excited and credited his family for his success in the ring.

“My family is number one in my life,” Caeden said. “They have always been here supporting me, and to have them here today and watch me succeed is a dream come true.”

The Overall Supreme Champion Heifer represented the British division and the Reserve Overall Supreme Champion Heifer came from the American division. The champions were selected from more than 2,000 cattle.
