The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is thrilled to announce H-E-B as the continued Title Sponsor for Mutton Bustin’ through 2027.

H-E-B is a premier grocery chain with locations throughout Texas and Mexico, deeply rooted in the community. Beyond meeting the daily needs of millions of Texans, H-E-B is committed to helping the community in many different ways including hunger and disaster relief, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability and support for our nation’s military. The sponsorship began in 2020, and this renewal extends the partnership for three additional years.

“Mutton Bustin’ is one of the Rodeo’s most popular events, both in the arena and in the Junction area of our carnival, making H-E-B the perfect partner to continue the fun with,” said Chris Boleman, president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “We are excited to share the news about our extended partnership with a Houston staple and Texas favorite like H-E-B.”

Mutton Bustin’ was first introduced to the Rodeo in 2009 with its corresponding committee following in 2011. The event sees over 250 participants each year, both inside the NRG Stadium and at the outdoor arena in The Junction. Hand selected from Ault, Colorado, 250 sheep travel over 900 miles for the fun. Children must be 5 or 6 years old and cannot weigh over 55 pounds to participate. The arena in The Junction offers rides every day during Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 7 a.m. and costs $20; Children are selected through a lottery system for NRG Stadium rides.

“The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is quintessentially Texan, just like H-E-B, which makes us perfect partners,” said Lisa Helfman, Managing Director of Public Affairs, H-E-B Houston. “We are excited for what the next three years will bring with H-E-B at the Rodeo with Mutton Bustin’. We know lots of Houston families will make wonderful memories and we look forward to being a part of them.”
