The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo proudly recognizes 90 premier student artists from across Texas during the School Art Program Awards Ceremony.
Among the honorees are the Class Champions, Reserve Class Champions, Class Premiums and Reserve Class Premiums in the following categories: Colored Drawing, Mixed Medium, Monochromatic, Painting, 3-D, Elementary and Junior High.
This year, about 200,000 students representing 151 Texas school districts and private schools participated in the Rodeo’s School Art Program. Teachers submitted nearly 4,000 pieces of artwork to NRG Center for preliminary judging. The judges selected 796 pieces to advance to the next round of judging, from which 90 students were chosen to participate in the School Art Auction.
The Rodeo’s School Art Program promotes an awareness of agriculture, Western heritage and Rodeo activities through artistic competitions for students. Since 1965, the School Art Program has received over 10 million entries.
Winning artwork will be on display in the Hayloft Gallery, located in the lobby of NRG Center throughout the duration of the 2026 Rodeo. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo selected 90 pieces for auction, which will take place Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., in the NRG Arena Sales Pavilion.
