Mutton Bustin’ is one of the fan-favorite events at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. There are two options for participation during the Rodeo: Mutton Bustin’ in NRG Stadium or in The Junction.
Mutton Bustin’ inside NRG Stadium during the RODEOHOUSTON® performance requires advance registration for a chance to participate, while The Junction runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and parents can register their child on the day they arrive.
2027 registration will open on November 1 and close on November 15.

REGISTRATION
Registration for 2026 will open November 3 at 12 a.m. and will close November 17 at 11:59 PM.
REQUIREMENTS
- Contestants must be 5 or 6 years old as of March 2, 2027.
- Participant’s weight must not exceed 55 pounds.
- Children who have previously participated in the stadium event are unable to ride again.
The Junction
Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up in the Mutton Bustin’ arena in The Junction.
REQUIREMENTS
- Contestants must be between the ages of 5 and 6.
- Participants weight must not exceed 55 pounds.
COST
- $20 per ride
