Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ officials are proud to welcome two rodeo legends into the 2026 RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame: champion bull rider Ty Murray and legendary bucking bull Bodacious. This marks the third class of Hall of Fame inductees, including the first animal athlete, further cementing their legacy in RODEOHOUSTON history.

The RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame recognizes individuals and animals for their impact on the success and longevity of the Rodeo. Future honorees will include past and present Rodeo contractor personnel, contestants, stock and stock contractors.

“Ty Murray and Bodacious are among the most skilled athletes to ever compete at RODEOHOUSTON, leaving a lasting legacy in both the sport and our event,” said Chris Boleman, president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “In rodeo, the livestock are just as important as the athletes who ride them, making them a perfect pair. Their induction into the RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame celebrates the power, grit and spirit that define rodeo at its best.”

Murray earned multiple RODEOHOUSTON championship titles throughout his career, including All-Around Champion in 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1998, as well as Bull Riding Champion in 1990 and 1994. He was also one of the last contestants to be crowned as an All-Around Champion at RODEOHOUSTON. Among the many titles Murray earned throughout his career — including PRCA Rookie of the Year, seven-time All-Around World Champion, 2000 ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee and 19 National Finals Rodeo qualifications — he was also a co-founder of Professional Bull Riders (PBR), established in 1992. Ten years later, in 2002, Murray was inducted into the PBR Hall of Fame.

Bodacious is often referred to as the “most dangerous bull in rodeo history.” He made a lasting impression during his appearances at RODEOHOUSTON inside the Astrodome in the mid-1990s, competing from 1992 to 1995. Known for his unmatched power and unpredictable athleticism, Bodacious achieved near-mythical status after consistently posting some of the highest buck-off rates. His dominance in the arena drew national attention and helped elevate the profile of bull riding during a pivotal time for the sport. Since his retirement in 1995, Bodacious’ bloodline has continued to influence rodeo, with his offspring competing in bull riding events across the country.

Bodacious and Murray join four previous RODEOHOUSTON Hall of Fame inductees: legendary barrelman Leon Coffee, who was the sole inductee in 2025; longtime stock contractor Mike Cervi; decorated barrel racer Charmayne James; and Bob Tallman, the voice of RODEOHOUSTON for more than 40 years, all from the inaugural 2024 class.

An induction ceremony will take place Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in front of the permanent display, located on the second floor of NRG Center. A temporary display can be seen inside NRG Stadium for fans to visit throughout the 21-day event.
