Exhibitors and their families filled NRG Arena on Friday for the annual Youth Breeding Rabbit and Cavy Costume Contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Participants dressed themselves and their rabbits in themed costumes, turning the arena into a lively parade of imaginative duos. From Marty McFly and Doc Brown to an MMA fighter, contestants showcased creativity, humor and showmanship alongside their animals.

Erin McKinney earned best overall and best rodeo costume, drawing inspiration from one of her favorite singers, Megan Moroney, playfully renamed “Megan Bun-roney” for the contest. Standing atop a spinning model star stage, the rabbit calmly turned as Moroney’s music played in the background.

“Megan Moroney is my favorite singer,” McKinney said. “I’m excited to see her next week, so I thought I’d bring the concert to the show barn.”

Students who placed first and second in each category received trophies, while third through fifth received plaques. The overall winner was awarded a belt buckle.

What began more than 15 years ago with just four entries has grown into a beloved tradition that highlights the fun, family spirit and originality of the rabbit show. With numerous exhibitors competing, judges carefully deliberated before selecting the participants who hopped away with top honors.
