Entrance Gate Security Measures

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ is implementing enhanced security measures throughout the Rodeo grounds. Security procedures include, but are not limited to, performing body wand and bag checks at several NRG Park entrance gates, and random bag checks at all NRG Stadium gates.

Patrons should allow additional time to enter the grounds, as these security measures may be in place as they arrive at the event.

This information will be posted at all gates and park-and-ride locations:

All patrons are subject to wand and bag check screening at entrance gates.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

  • air horns
  • alcohol
  • banners bearing advertisements
  • banners judged to be in poor taste or offensive
  • beach balls
  • firearms
  • fireworks
  • flag poles
  • footballs
  • Frisbee® and other sports discs
  • hover boards
  • laser pointers
  • selfie sticks
  • weapons
  • whistles

Audio recording is not allowed in the stadium.

Video recording is not allowed in the stadium during RodeoHouston®.

Open Carry

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, in an effort to provide a safe environment and promote a family-friendly atmosphere at the city’s iconic entertainment event, will prohibit concealed and open carry of handguns by private citizens at the Rodeo.

Remotely Controlled Devices

NRG Park bans the use of all remotely controlled devices such as aircraft, cars, etc.

  • No remotely controlled aircraft or ground vehicle devices are authorized to operate on, above or below NRG Park property at any time without the express written consent of SMG, Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation or the proper law enforcement authority.
  • This procedure includes, but is not limited to unmanned aircraft systems, radio controlled model aircraft, other devices that can be operated in airspace and remote controlled cars/ground vehicles.
  • Possession or operation of such remotely controlled aircraft or ground vehicle devices without prior written consent will result in the confiscation of all related materials, removal from NRG Park property, and/or a response from law enforcement authority.
  • NRG Park will notify the Federal Aviation Administration and/or the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and/ or any other law enforcement authority deemed necessary of any incidents involving airborne aircraft or any other unauthorized remote controlled ground based vehicles.
  • Events requiring the use of any such prohibited items listed above must receive a prior written notification of approval from SMG, HCSCC or the proper law enforcement authority. Any and all entities requesting to utilize a remotely controlled device must sign the appropriate documentation prior to bringing any such equipment on to, above or below NRG Park property.

What can't I bring into the stadium?

The safety of everyone is paramount for Rodeo patrons to enjoy a fun atmosphere. Please note that all personal belongings (such as purses, camera cases, back packs, strollers, etc.) are subject to search at any given time on the Rodeo grounds by Show officials and/or law enforcement officers for security reasons. Anyone refusing to be searched will not be allowed on the Rodeo grounds. Video taping is not allowed within NRG Stadium, nor are outside food and drinks, including those purchased elsewhere at NRG Park.

General Information

NRG Park Opening Times

The grounds open at 8 a.m. daily. (Feb. 25, 2019, the grounds open at noon.)

Concert Times

The star entertainers start performing after the last rodeo event is complete each evening and the stage is set. Actual start times for the concert vary day to day due to the varying number of rodeo competitors and other production elements.

  • Weekday performances start at 6:45 p.m. with the entertainer taking the stage at approximately 8:45 p.m.
  • Weekend performances start at 3:45 p.m. with the entertainer taking the stage at approximately 5:45 p.m.

General Store

Stop by the General Store, located at the entrance to Hall D for your last minute needs while on the Show grounds. The store carries medicines, baby items, rain gear, sunscreen and other convenience items. The General Store is run by the Commercial Exhibits Committee.

Information Booths

Copies of the Visitors Guide, containing daily Rodeo schedules, maps and general information, can be obtained at the Rodeo’s information booths and stand-alone positions. The booths are located throughout the complex. A member of the Directions & Assistance Committee in a teal vest can provide assistance.

Lost and Found

Patrons can report missing items and return found items at the Rodeo’s lost-and-found area, located in NRG Center, room 102B. All items will be kept in that office throughout the Rodeo. For items lost or found in NRG Stadium, please check with any of the six guest services booths on the day the item is lost, or check with the Rodeo’s lost-and-found area in NRG Center after 10 a.m. the following day.

Lyft & Ride Sharing

Catch a ride to and from the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo with Lyft, the Rodeo’s official ride share service. Lyft pick up and drop offs will take place in the Green Lot. Please note: Entrance Gate 13D off Westridge from the north bound lanes of Main Street is the only access to the lot, and there is no left turn lane access allowed from the south bound lanes of Main Street.

Recycling Program

Largely through the work of the Rodeo’s Recycling Committee, products from Show grounds are kept out of landfills and turned into reusable products. All Show patrons can contribute to this program by using the specially-marked containers for products which can be recycled.

School Tours

The Rodeo's school tours program offers complimentary tickets to those scheduling group tours. The tours take place in AGVENTURE, which hosts a variety of livestock and activities focused on children of all ages. The tours are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Nov. 2 the year before the next Rodeo.

Automated External Difibrillators

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located in the following areas of NRG Stadium:

  • Field Level – Sections 112 and 133
  • Lower Suite Level – East and West VIP elevator lobbies
  • Club Level – Next to guest services booths (northwest and southeast corners)
  • Upper Suite Level – East and West VIP elevator lobbies
  • Upper Concourse – Sections 517 and 543
  • Press Box Elevator Lobby

Additionally, AEDs are located on the first and second levels of NRG Center. Professional medical emergency personnel are available during Rodeo operating hours to help with AED use and to handle major and minor medical needs and emergencies.

First Aid

Professional medical emergency personnel are available during Rodeo operating hours to handle major and minor medical needs and emergencies. Several first aid stations are located throughout the Rodeo grounds and are staffed by volunteer emergency medical technicians, paramedics and registered nurses.


  • NRG Center Room 109 and Hall C Lobby
  • Just outside the front of NRG Arena and inside the main doors, facing the carnival

Special Accommodations

All facilities located on the Rodeo grounds can easily accommodate guests in wheelchairs. Special ramps, restrooms and water fountains are located in all buildings.

Assistance for the Hearing Impaired in NRG Stadium

All seats in NRG Stadium meet ADA requirements for the hearing impaired and have a view of reader boards that provide a description of all action, as well as the song lyrics during the concert (when possible). Visual information also is provided by various displays in the stadium bowl and includes scores, times for timed events and contestant statistics. The Rodeo installs eight video screens in the center of NRG Stadium, freeing up the large end zone boards for additional graphic displays.

Real-time captioning of announcer’s spoken words and song lyrics during concerts will be available throughout the run of the Show.

Assistance for the Visually Impaired in NRG Stadium

Play-by-play descriptions of Rodeo events during select RODEOHOUSTON performances are provides. Headphones are available from all Guest Services booths any time after the doors open at NRG Stadium.

Wheelchair Accessible Parking

Accessible and handicap parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • All METRO Park & Ride locations and the OST 1 Rodeo Express Lot have accessible parking, with accessible buses to accommodate special-needs visitors.
During the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters

Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to rent during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. These devices may be rented ahead of time online, or on the grounds during the Show. A form of ID will be held as collateral for the device.
