Rodeo Uncorked! highlights wine production in agriculture. Before the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, the Rodeo hosts an International Wine Competition, a food competition and wine auction. During the Rodeo, visit the Champion Wine Garden where the champion wines from the International Wine Competition are served.

International Wine Competition

The 20th annual Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition was held Nov. 11 – 13, 2022 at NRG Center. Last year, a total of 2,862 entries were received from 17 countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Israel, Peru, Argentina and South Africa. Of those entries, 480 entries were from Texas wineries, and 203 entries came from last year’s featured region, Washington State, an established wine-growing region with a reputation for excellence in wine production.

Kick off the 2023 Show season by attending one of the largest gourmet food events in the world. With more than 450 award-winning wines and over 100 signature dishes from the area’s top restaurants and culinary institutions, this is a top destination for wine enthusiasts, food writers and foodies alike. Guests will interact with our chefs and winery representatives and help decide who takes home the “People’s Choice Award” in our Roundup & Best Bites Competition.

In accordance with Rule 3.322(h)(2) of the Texas Administrative Code, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has designated Sunday, February 19, 2023 and Sunday, February 26, 2023 as its two allowed tax-free sales days for 2023.  Any sale that would otherwise be subject to sales tax will be sold tax-free on these two days.

Champion Wine Auction & Dinner

As one of the leading charitable wine auctions in the country, the Champion Wine Auction & Dinner features more than 450 award-winning wines from our Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. While supporting one of the state’s strongest charities, guests will enjoy a five-star dinner and cocktail service while bidding on unique items and experiences in our Silent Auction. The live auction bidding showcases our Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, and other award-winning wines. All purchased items are available to take home that evening. Purchase commitments and auction table purchase amounts can be applied toward Live Auction purchases.

Auction tables each seat 10 and can be purchased at the $6,000, $9,000, $12,000 and $25,000 levels.
