Guest Services

ASSISTANCE FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Taping for the Blind Association personnel give detailed play-by-play descriptions of rodeo events. 2011 dates will be available at a later time.

This service helps visually impaired Rodeo fans enjoy the world’s biggest rodeo. Headphones are available from Reliant Stadium Guest Services in sections 113, 318 and 517.

ASSISTANCE FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED

All seats in Reliant Stadium meet ADA requirements for the hearing impaired. Every seat has a view of reader boards that provide a play-by-play of all action, as well as the song lyrics during the concert (when possible). Visual information also is provided by various displays in the stadium bowl and includes scores, times for timed events, and contestant statistics. The Show installs eight video screens in the center of Reliant Stadium, freeing up the large end zone boards for additional graphic displays.

For both the hearing and visually impaired, a selection of seats is available for purchase in Reliant Stadium. Please contact the Show’s Ticket Office at 832.667.1080 for further information.

Hearing impaired visitors may order tickets by TTY at 832.667.1086.

ACCESSIBLE AND HANDICAP PARKING

During the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, there is an area in the Westridge lot set aside for handicap parking. Accessible parking is located on the south end of Reliant Stadium off Westridge, where there are about 100 permanent places. In the South Kirby lot there are an additional 250-plus spaces dedicated to handicap parking. These spaces are available on a firstcome, first-served basis. The Show will run Tram service on the grounds and golf cart services to assist the public in accessing the grounds.

All Rodeo METRO Express park and ride locations have accessible parking, with accessible METRO buses to accommodate special needs.

Outdoors, the stations can be found in each food tent, and by the petting zoo and pig races. Housed in little red barns, these waterless hand sanitizers are easy to see and use for visitors of all ages. Guests are encouraged to use the hand sanitizers and the sinks in the restrooms to clean their hands frequently.

INFORMATION BOOTHS

The Visitors Guide, containing daily Show schedules, maps and general information, can be obtained at the Show’s information booths and standalone positions. The booths are located throughout the complex or you can locate a member of the Directions and Assistance Committee in a turquoise vest for assistance.

INFORMATION NETWORK

This service is designed to inform, educate and entertain all Show visitors. In addition to an extensive audio/video system, this service provides guests with the latest news and information. Programming for the network includes daily schedules of events and activities, directions to key attractions, livestock show and rodeo results, and shuttle bus hours and locations, as well as music videos from RODEOHOUSTON entertainers. Watch for news and weather highlights as well!

LOST AND FOUND

Report missing items and return found items to the person on duty at the Show’s Lost and Found, located in Reliant Center, room 102B. All items will be kept in that office throughout the Show. For items lost or found in Reliant Stadium, please check with any of the six guest services booths on the day the item is lost, or check with the Show’s Lost and Found in Reliant Center after 10 a.m. the following day. After Show, call 832.667.1000 to retrieve lost items.

MOUNTED PATROL

They’re not literally the cavalry, but security personnel on horseback from the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office provide a very visible security force located throughout the Reliant Park parking lot.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Official Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Sponsors can be spotted around the grounds of Reliant Park during the Show doing random acts of kindness. Sponsors can be found opening doors for guests, assisting patrons in the food court area, taking photos for Show visitors and more. These individuals are employees of organizations that are part of the Show’s sponsor program, and are volunteering their time to help make Show visitors’ experience even better.

RECYCLING PROGRAM

The Show’s recycling efforts resulted in 154,040 pounds of recycled cardboard, 20,560 pounds of recycled aluminum and 71,300 pounds of recycled plastic from the 2010 Show. Largely through the efforts of the Show’s Facility Services Committee, products from Show grounds were kept out of landfills and turned into reusable products. All Show patrons can contribute to this program by using the specially marked containers for products which can be recycled. In 2009, the Show was named a Proud Partner at the Keep Houston Beautiful 25th Annual Mayor’s Proud Partner Luncheon honoring its recycling and conservation efforts.

RODEOTV

Stay up-to-date on all activities and events during the Show by accessing RodeoTV, which includes channels for Rodeo News Network, providing visitors with current news from around Show grounds; Rodeo Action Updates, providing RODEOHOUSTON fans with Super Series news and standings; and Show Schedule, so you don’t miss any of the action at the Show.

SIGNS, GRAPHICS AND COLOR CODING

It’s easy for patrons to get around the grounds and find their way through the many exhibits and attractions, especially with strategically placed signage throughout the facilities. At several locations throughout the complex, large YOU ARE HERE type maps are available, showing the layout of Reliant Park, Reliant Center and Reliant Arena and what visitors will find in each area.

SOUVENIR PROGRAM

Many Rodeo fans enjoy the added information provided by purchasing the RODEOHOUSTON Souvenir Program. FFA and 4-H youth groups from the Houston area will be selling the programs, and the youth organizations will receive the sales proceeds from every souvenir program they sell.

SPECIAL ACCOMODATIONS

All facilities located on the Show grounds can easily accommodate guests in wheelchairs. Special ramps, restrooms and water fountains are located in all buildings.

While at Reliant Park, catch a ride on the Trams. Check the Visitors Guide maps and location markers for tram stops and routes. The Tram carries visitors to and from surrounding parking lots. Trams run during the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest and the duration of the Show.
