Western Art Academy

Western Art Academy summer workshop scholarships are selected through an application process. Application forms are given to all 9th, 10th, and 11th - grade students who are Best of Show, Gold Medal or Special Merit winners in the annual School Art competition. Completed applications are submitted to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Committee. Representatives of the Western Art Academy interview each qualifying applicant and review their application and artwork portfolio. The number of participants selected each year is determined by the amount of funds available; winners are announced at the School Art Program Awards Ceremony during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
