It’s definitely stock show season and we are busy getting ready for a great 2008 Show. I am sure you have been busy as well, traveling to various stock shows across the state. With March only one month away, it won’t be long until we see you here in Houston.
Please take a look at the information below as a reminder of the changes and updates for both junior and open show exhibitors. As always, feel free to e-mail us at livestock@rodeohouston.com or give us a call. Be safe in your travels and we’ll see you around the barn!

Staging and Stalling
All livestock exhibitors must enter and stage on Airport Boulevard. Livestock exhibitors will NOT have access to stage on Reed Road. Staging lanes will open two hours before posted move-in times, which can be found in the Exhibitors Handbook at www.rodeohouston.com.
Notice to Open Show Exhibitors: If you arrive prior to the move-in time, tie-outs will be available at the Airport Boulevard staging area for your convenience.
Exhibitor passes and FunPasses! (season grounds passes) will be checked at Airport Boulevard. Please have your passes available or you must purchase a pass before being allowed to enter the Show grounds.
Notice to Steer Exhibitors: Steers will be stalled upon arrival. To pen together, groups must arrive together at the staging area. No assignments will be made for animals in trailers that are coming later. Animals will be counted on trailers. Only trailers with animals will be staged. Please see special rules of each species for staging times.
Junior Market Barrows will again be stalled upon arrival. Junior Market Lambs and Goats and Junior Breeding Beef Heifers will be pre-penned. Visit the Exhibitors Handbook located at www.rodeohouston.com for more information.
New Junior Show Awards
Premiums have increased for all first, second and third-place barrows.
Junior Breeding Beef Breed Champions will compete for British, Continental and American Division Champion prior to competing for Supreme and Reserve Supreme Heifer Champion.
Junior Breeding Beef Breed Champions and Reserve Breed Champions will receive additional premiums. See the Exhibitors Handbook at www.rodeohouston.com for more information.
Public Speaking
For the first time, a Public Speaking Contest will be held during the 2008 Show. It is open to all students in the Houston area who meet qualifications, as well as members of Texas 4-H and FFA. Speakers will have a chance to choose one division topic — Western heritage, natural resources, animal science, plant science, agribusiness, agricultural policy or agriscience.
The final round will be held in Reliant Center March 17, 9 a.m. For more information, visit www.rodeohouston.com.
