School Art Auction
Auction pieces will be selected from all auction eligible high school Best of Show, Gold Medal and Special Merit winners at a Grand Prix judging at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Approximately 50 pieces receiving the highest score, compiled from a rating of each piece by the judges, will be considered for auction. The 2012 School Art Auction brought in more than $1.4 million in sales. The benefits of the proceeds reach not only the exhibitor or artist, but also students across Texas through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund. Through set totals of guaranteed premium payments, the Show ensures a successful future for the artists, while any excess money goes toward sending another student on to higher education.
