Top-placing cowboys and cowgirls of RODEOHOUSTON BP Super Series II now have sights set on the Semifinals and $50,000 after the Championship Round, Saturday, March 2. The top four participants in each event from each Super Series move on to one of the two Semifinals, set for March 13 and 14.
TIE-DOWN ROPING
With eight world titles under his belt, tie-down roping champion Fred Whitfield said competing in the Semifinals doesn’t add any extra pressure for him. He said his plan is to execute when roping in the Semifinals and that it will boil down to what calves he draws.

BAREBACK RIDING
Getting through the BP Super Series is the hardest part, said first-place bareback rider, Justin McDaniel. He has competed at RODEOHOUSTON eight times and has advanced every time. “I am going to try to be my best and let the rest take care of itself,” McDaniel said.

TEAM ROPING
Team roping champions Travis Tryan and Jake Long walked away from the BP Super Series II with $13,000. “Advancing to the Semifinals Round gives us the confidence that we’ve made good runs and we are going to keep putting good runs together,” Tryan said.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING
Guymon, Okla., native Tyler Corrington said the louder the fans in Houston are the better he does, and owes them in part for his success during BP Super Series II. “I have to stay relaxed and trust myself and what I can do,” Corrington said.

STEER WRESTLING
The BP Super Series II Steer Wrestling Champion, Blake Knowles, rode his horse “Fabulous,” whom he trained himself for multiple events all the way to Semifinal 1. “Coming back for the Semifinals I am going to have to regain momentum from RODEOHOUSTON,” Knowles said. “I feed off of every steer.”

BARREL RACING
After finishing the National Finals Rodeo in December 2012 with a hurt horse, BP Super Series II Barrel Racing Champion Carlee Pierce said she is taking it one day at a time. She finished the BP Super Series with $8,300.

BULL RIDING
Clayton Savage has been riding bulls for 11 years and his hard work paid off during the Super Series II Championship Round with a total of $8,700 in winnings. “This is my job; going into the Semifinals, I am just going to do what I do every day,” Savage said.

The top four from each event of the Semifinal rounds will advance to the RODEOHOUSTON BP Super Series Championship, Saturday, March 16. The remaining six from each event in the two Semifinals will compete in the Wild Card round, Friday, March 15, where the top two from each event will advance to the Championship. Each event champion will walk away with a $50,000 payout in addition to other winnings.
